It is with a humble heart that we announce the passing of Mr. Edward John Wright of Whigham, Georgia. Mr. Wright passed on Sunday May 21, 2017 at Archbold Medical Center , Thomasville, Georgia.
The book of life was opened for Edward John Wright on October 15, 1956 in Cairo, Grady County, Georgia. He was the second oldest child of the late Benny and Vernice James Wright.
Affectionately called “John” by those who knew him, attend Whigham School. He was converted and confessed Christ, was baptized and joined the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the late Revered P.R. Anders.
“John” lived all his life in Whigham while working several jobs including Farmers Peanut Company, Mr. Doug Lacy, The Plantation in Beachton, and Mrs. Mary Jo Harrell.
One of John’s greatest accomplishments was assisting with the raising of the children of Ruby Soloman Edwards.
The book of life closed for John on Sunday, May 21, 2017 around noon with his sister and brother-in-law (Betty and Elton) at his bedside.
John leaves to cherish his memory, a loving devoted sister, Betty W. Harrison (Elton) of Reno, GA.; one brother, Tommy L. Wright (Tracy) of Whigham, GA.; a friend, Ruby S. Edwards and children, Amanda and Tony Edwards and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sammy “Sam” Lee James.
