It is with a humble heart that we announce the passing of Mr. Sammie Grant who passed at Pinewood Nursing Center in Whigham, Georgia.  Mr. Grant gained his heavenly wings and took flight on Thursday June 1, 2017. 

Sammie Joe Grant was born October 8 1937 in Grady County, GA to the late Benny Grant and Sarah Kelly.  Sammie attended the Public school of Grady County.  He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Morah #1 under the leadership of Rev. C. L. Laster.  He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Lela Johnson on December 24, 1956.  To this union two sons were born.  Proceeding in dearth were one son Willie Joe Grant and one grandson Cedric Grant. 

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, one son Walter Grant Sr., Cairo GA; one grandson Walter Grant Jr.  Athens GA; two great Granddaughters, Cameshaa and Amiracle Grant of Tallahassee, FL; Three Sisters,  Betty Gurley, Ella Metcalf and Jackie Jones of Cairo GA; Two brothers Jessie and Gary Grant, Cairo GA; Five Sister-n-laws, Carrie Johnson, Mattie Hutinchson of Calvary, GA, Eldie (James) Birkins, Whigham, GA. Christine Willis, Cairo GA and Edith Johnson, Tampa, FL; Four special friends, Pearlie Williams, Emory Harrison, Bally Mack and Robert McBride all of Calvary GA; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
