Sarah Ruth Thompson

September 5, 1943 ~ October 20, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old


It is with most sincere sympathy that we formally announce the passing of Mrs. Sarah Thompson of Cairo, Ga. Mrs. Thompson passed October 20, 2017, at Bainbridge Health Care.

On October 20, 2017 the angel of mercy came and received the soul of our beloved wife, mother, and Grandmother Sister Sarah Ruth Thompson.  She was born to the late Olivier and Emma Hayes of Thomasville, Georgia on September 5, 1943. 

She became a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, Cairo, Georgia in 1962.  Where she was a born again Christian that loved the lord her family, church and the community and would do whatever she could for her church.

She was united in Marriage to Joseph Thompson on April 7, 1961.  Sarah attended Douglas High School Thomasville, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 56 years Joseph, and five children Joseph Thompson, Jr. (Christine) of Cairo, Georgia, Carolyn Thompson of Cairo, Georgia, Anthony (Pamela) Thompson, Union City, Georgia, Loretta Thompson of Locust Grove, Georgia, and Christopher Thompson (LaFaye) of Cairo, Georgia. 

Siblings: Oliver Hayes, Jr. (Frances), Beverly Williams and Eris Clark all of Thomasville, Georgia.  One Brother-in-law Bobby Thompson (Mickey) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., Eight sister-in-law’s, Angie Ruth Daniels of Miami, FL, Sally Bush (James) of Daytona Beach, FL, Mary Gimblet(Luther) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., Joyce O’Neal of Thomasville, Georgia, Edna Wilson (Everett) of Thomasville, Georgia, Patsy Morgan (Rufus) of Cairo, Georgia, Anna Bell Hayes and Fannie Mae Hayes of Thomasville, Georgia.

Twelve Grandkids: Christopher Henderson, Guamatus (Antwan) Anderson, Antoinette Thompson, Anthony (Brian) Thompson, El’Lexius Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Antonio Wynn, Tarzarria Davis, Zacharius Anderson, Amarria Phillips, Latoya Daniels, and Terrance Teal.  Twelve great –grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and 3 brothers Patsena Fruitree, Annie Grace Brown, Virginia Adams, Mary Newkirk, Lillie Webb, Earl Hayes, Charles Hayes, Jr., and Robert Hayes Sr.
