It is with most sincere sympathy that we formally announce the passing of, Mr. Freddie Lurry.  Brother Lurry  transitioned from this life on Monday, December 30, 2019.

 

Brother Freddie Lee Lurry Sr., the son of the late Sammy Lee Lurry and Lizzie Mae Smith Lurry was born on July 19, 1937 in Grady County.  At an early age he joined Wilson Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. S.E. Ealy.  He was educated in the Grady County School system.  He worked at W.B. Roddenberry Company for 29 years and later worked at Cairo High School for 19 years until he retired, May 8, 2015.  Freddie was affectionally call (Ready Freddie) and had love for all he came in contact with.  The Lord called Brother Freddie home to rest early, December 30, 2019 while he was a resident at Pinewood Nursing Home in Whigham, Georgia.

On August 10, 1957, he married the Love of his Life, Mary Ann Johnson Lurry of 62 years.  Freddie leaves a legacy and loving memories that will be remembered forever and ever.  He leaves his loving & devoted wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Lurry of Cairo, GA, His beautiful children, Mary Jane Hines, Patricia Simmons (Terry), Lucretia Cooper (Terry), Freddie Lee Lurry Jr. (Wanda), Jackie Lee Lurry, Keith Lurry Sr., all of Cairo, GA., Deacon Leevon Lurry (Theresa) of Havana, FL.  Grandchildren, Sadrick Hines of Atlanta, GA, Chiquita Simmons, Midway, FL., Nateshia Cooper, Thomasville, GA., Wilbert Hines Jr, Latoya Hines, Kameisha Simmons, Keith Lurry Jr., Lekeshia Cooper, Ke’breona Lurry, Jan’Ya Lurry all of Cairo, GA., Vonqunisha Lurry, Havana Fl., Six Step Grandchildren Jarvorris Butler, Havana FL., Denita Warren, Derek Brook, Miami, FL., Harry Clement, Katrelle Headley, Atlanta, GA and Dorian Brooks, Mariana, GA.  He leaves behind 13 great Grandchildren whom he loved and adored very much.  He leaves behind one brother, O.C. Lurry (Jewel) of Cairo, GA Waiting His Arrival:  Freddie will be welcomes by his parents Sammy Lurry & Lizzie Mae Smith Lurry, his brother Otis Lurry Sr., his adorable Sisters, Louise Bivens, Ida Mae Garland, Leala Mae Sherman; His mother-in-law, Annie Grace Banks, Father -in-law, Nero Johnson and brother-in-law, David Banks.  He also leaves to cherish a great number of Nieces & nephews, cousins and friends. His God children, Teresa Jones (Robert) of Tallahassee, FL and Lisa Atkins of Cairo, GA.
