Obituary
On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Ms. Bertha Williams got her wings and peacefully transitioned at the University of Florida Health Neuromedicine Hospital, Gainesville, Florida. The beautiful and loving Bertha Williams was born on June 27, 1956 in Cairo, Georgia to the successful local businessman Liscious Williams and wonderful Alice Broadwater Williams.
As a child growing up in Cairo, Georgia with devoted and nurturing parents and seven vibrant and energetic siblings, Ms. Williams attended Bethlehem AME Church where the foundation of her faith was established and nurtured. After graduating from high school, she was heavily engaged and inspired to achieve a successful career in her God given talents as a painter, fashion model, designer, and seamstress. She had a remarkable passion for cooking. Influenced by her wonderful mother to one day open her own restaurant, Ms. Williams instead prepared meals for her family, friends, the community, and local charity soup kitchens during the holiday seasons.
Ms. Williams was a dedicated sports fan and arts enthusiast who loved to travel, go on nature walks and spending some time just reading. She attended many Ohio State University and Youngstown State University athletic events with daughter Gina.
Having to interrupt her future career in the arts, Ms. Williams took on the formidable task of motherhood. She nurtured her two children in the admonition of the Lord, academic expectations, southern hospitality, moral values, self-sufficiency, respect, and discipline.
Ms. Williams was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She had a vivacious personality but also introverted and introspective like a “panther”, a symbol of power, beauty, and grace.
Ms. Williams was a beloved daughter, loving mother, sister, granddaughter, and Child of God. She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted daughter, Gina Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio, and son Micah Williams of Wisconsin; four sisters, Mrs. Glenda Wrenn (Dr. Walter Wrenn) of Pinehill, New Jersey, Mrs. Beryl Lisa James (George James) of Tallahassee, Florida, Mrs. Griselda Lipscomb (Stephen Lipscomb) of Canton, Georgia, Mrs. Joan Shiver (Andre Shiver) of Mableton, Georgia; Brother, Ronald Williams of Thomasville, Georgia;
