Carolyn Sirmans Obituary

“God sees when all footsteps falter; when the path has grown too steep. Then He touches the weary eyelids and gives His daughter sleep, and so it was.”.

With most sincere sympathy, we formally announce the passing of Sister Carolyn Sirmans, who transitioned from this life on Wednesday, February 21, 2024

Carolyn “Kay” Delore McCollough Sirmans was born in Donalsonville, Georgia, on November 18, 1972, to Barbara Jean Ducan McCollough and Horence Horne. Carolyn was raised by her mother and stepfather, Hosie McCollough throughout her childhood, teenage, and young adult life.

Carolyn completed her education at Seminole County High School, graduating with the Class of 1991. Subsequently, she went off to Albany Job Corp, where she was able to craft many skills. Her ability to blend multiple roles, like being a businesswoman, Republic notary, security officer, and many managerial roles, was effortless. Until her final day, she remained devoted to a BP gas station, where her community held significant importance.

From an early age, she devoted her life to Christ, and as time unfolded, Carolyn embraced her calling as an Evangelist. Recognizing her profound love for the Lord was essential to understanding her. A steadfast member of Bethlehem AME Church, Carolyn remained faithfully committed to her spiritual calling and her Love for Dr. Rev. Debra Knight.

As a mother to Otis and Damion, she was nothing short of amazing, guiding them to be their best selves and instilling a profound love for the Lord. Her grandson, Messiah, brought her immense pride and joy. She was a cherished sister, aunt, godmother, mentor, and devoted prayer warrior who embraced diverse roles.

It's important that we keep in mind that she was “Ms. 305” “Dade County.” Carolyn proudly represented the 305.” Trill on dat.” It embodies a vibrant culture, resilience, and a unique sense of community. We will miss some of her favorite sayings, “I got your front,” “Much love,” “Run and tell dat,” “ “That guy,” “let me hold some,” and “I approve this message”.

Carolyn departed this life on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, and was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Jean Ducan McCollough.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her precious memories: her sons, Otis Maffet Jr. and Damion Nesbit (Thomasville, GA); grandson:  Messiah Nesbit; father, Hosie McCollough, Horence Horne; her devoted sisters, LeBrtha Denise (Baru) Hornsby (Atlanta, GA), Kristy McCollough (Columbia, SC), Tiffany (Pierre)Prayer (Orange County, CA); step-sister, Stephanie Horne (Greenwood, FL),; nieces: Brittany (Kevin) Cantrell, Erica McCoy, Iesha Williams, Janiyah Prayer; nephews, Trey Williams, Justin McCoy, Jason Prayer, Jamari McCollough, Jacob Prayer, Jaden Prayer, Kayden Robinson, King Hornsby; Life Partner William Nesbit; Godson: Mario Smith; Goddaughter Elisa Burn and a host of family & friends.
