Mother Christine Perry Johnson "Mudear" was born on July 27, 1933 to the late Dan and Jennie Ruth Perry in Grady County, Georgia. Mother Johnson was joined in holy matrimony to Deacon Melvin Johnson, Sr.

Mother Johnson attended the Grady County Public School system. Mother Johnson confessed Christ at an early age and united with Grant Chapel AME Church in Whigham, Georgia and later joined Friendship House of Prayer.

Mother Johnson was a wonderful cook with a giving heart that loved cooking for anybody that came to her house. She loved her flowers and she had a green thumb for nourishing any plant. She especially loved to go fishing. Mother Johnson loved her relatives far and near. "Mudear" will surely be missed by many for her generosity and unique sense of humor. She also never met a stranger no matter where she went.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband of 63 years, Melvin Johnson, Sr. of Cairo, Georgia. Two Children, Shirley Johnson and Melvin Johnson, Jr, both of Cairo, Georgia. One sister, Annie Ruth (Emanuel) Hillery of Sanford, Florida. One brother, Rev. Willie Lee Perry, Sr. of Cairo, Georgia. Two sister-in-laws, Beulah Wright of Atlanta, Georgia and Bonzeia Johnson of Climax, Georgia. Four brothers-in-law: Eugene (Linda) Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, Zachary Johnson, Willis Johnson both of Climax, Georgia and Nathaniel Johnson of Whigham, Georgia. Two aunts: Rebecca Smart and Vera Mae McFadden of Sanford, Florida. An Uncle George Perry of Sanford, Florida. Six Grandchildren: Petulia (David) Morton, Angelita (Lee) Perry, Rafael Garland of Cairo, Georgia, Leconya Rhym of Thomasville, Georgia, Melvin (Katie) Jones of Tallahassee, Florida and Tamekai Mills of Covington, Georgia. Fourteen great-grandchildren: Myisha, Jasmine, Joshua, Joseph, Kamaree, Kadasia, Malachi, Kamya, Kamarion, Kelsea, Miracle, Khalee, Ava and Arial. Special grandkids Sierra, Diamond, KeAzsa, Asia and Amber. Special friends Shirley Jones, Cathy and Billy Moore of Cairo, Georgia and Mary Mathis of Columbus, Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Johnson was proceeded in death by her father, Dan Perry; mother, Jennie Ruth Perry; father-in- law, Myles, Johnson; a mother-in-law, Evelena Johnson; a brother, Robert Lee Perry; a cousin, Sylvester Taylor, Sr. Aunt, Essie Mae Thompson,; uncles, Jay Smart, GB Smart.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Christine P. Johnson will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Family Worship Center, 1760 U.S. Highway 84 West, Cairo, Georgia. Pastor Johnny More, Pastor, Elder Ruben Addison, Officiating. Interment at Crestview Cemetery.
