Mrs. Earlene Hampton- Stephens of Cairo, Ga. passed Saturday, March 8, 2104 at her residence.
Mrs. Earlene Hampton-Stephens was born on February 7, 1945, Earlene was born to Zema and Sarah Hampton in Grady County, Georgia. She accepted Christ into her life and became a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist where she served faithfully until her health failed her. Earlene served on the Senior Usher Board at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Earlene was also a member on the Ladies Auxiliary of Elijah Franklin American Legion Post #544 for several years. She was a member of the Washington Consolidated High School Class of 1965. Earlene was employed by ITT for many years, and also was employed by Pizza Hut. Later in life she started an in home daycare.
Earlene was married the late John Davis Stephens and to this union six children were born. In later years, she had a relationship with the late Timothy Corker, Sr., in which one son was born.
To cherish her legacy of love, she leaves behind her devoted children, Darryl (Kimberly) Stephens of Thomasville, Georgia; Stevie (Patricia) Stephens of Cairo, Georgia; Victor (Imelda) Stephens, Sr., of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dethra Stephens, Linda (Gregory) Hines, Brenda Stephens, and Timothy Corker, Jr. all of Cairo, Georgia; stepdaughter, Torey Miller of Albany, Georgia; six sisters, Louise Bishop-Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Lovetta (J.D.) Stephens of Cairo, Georgia; Eva (Willie, Sr.) Myles of Cairo, Georgia; Bertha (Bernard) Fisher of Wilmington, Delaware; Edna Lois (Earl) Timbers of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Barbara Jones of Columbia, Virginia; two brothers, Terry Hampton and Jerry (Angela) Hampton both of Cairo, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Vanaster (Edith) Williams, Curly B. (Barbara) Williams, Joseph Stephens, John L. (Dorothy) Stephens all of Cairo, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean (Kenny) Corker, of Cairo, Georgia; Doris (Carl Lee) Tucker of Bain, Texas; Terry Stephens (Jackie) of Newark, New Jersey; two godchildren, Angela K. Arbeary and Christopher (LaFaye) Thompson all of Cairo, Georgia; special friends, Lisa Lester, Jimmy (JT) Tise, and Betty Baker; twenty-two grandchildren, and a host of nieces nephews other relatives and friends.
Earlene is preceded in death by two brothers, Zema Hampton, Jr., Edward Hampton, and one sister, Ethel Boyd.
Celebration of Life Service:
Service for Mrs. Earlene Hampton-Stephens will be conducted Saturday March 15,2014, 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church 310 4th Avenue S.W.,Cairo. Rev. Alexander Mack, Pastor, Representative Louise Williams-Bishop, Officiating Interment will follow in Crestview Cemetery.
