Services for Mrs. Earlie B. Gilbert will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 811 9th St., NW, Cairo, Georgia. The Rev. Bobby Powell, pastor, the Rev. Willie H. Williams Jr. officiating. Interment will be held at Crestview Cemetery Hwy. 84, Cairo, Georgia. Active pallbearers are Terry Adams, Ronnie Smith, Derrick Smith, Travis Hunter, Reginald Huntley and Terrance Adams. Honorary pallbearers are Ernest Williams, Robert Myles, Jim Davenport and Ben Morgan. Earlie B. Gilbert was born May 4, 1925 in Eufaula, Alabama, to Ella Pugh and Will Howard. She was the eleventh born of twelve children. She attended a few years of public school in Randolph County, Georgia. She met and later married Arthur Carter Gilbert, who preceded her in death, January 2005. At the time of his death they had been married 61 years. To this union three children were born. The oldest, Maggie died during infancy. She joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church some years ago before her health began to fail. Survivors include a son, Eddie (Mary Ann) Gilbert of Cairo; daughter, Arthurene Mitchell of Thomasville; brother, Razz (Annie) Mitchell of Ft. Gaines, Georgia; grandsons, Eddie Bernard Gilbert Jr. of Cairo, Barry Jon Mitchell Jr. of Thomasville; granddaughters, Taneka Adams of Cairo, Elisabeth Blair Mitchell of Norcross, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Mildred Howard of Edison, Georgia, Lola Howard of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mary Jones of Cairo, Rosa Nell Gilbert of McDonough, Georgia; caregiver and friend, Connie Ruff of Cairo; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
