Frankie Lee (Gilbert) Fields

The arms of our Lord now surround the family of Sister Frankie Gilbert Fields.  Mrs. Fields passed on Friday, May 29, 2020. 

 Frankie Lee Gilbert Fields was born on January 18, 1944, in Cuthbert (Randolph County) Georgia, to the Late Simon and Gladys Hart Gilbert.

She was educated in the Grady County Schools System, and graduated in the Class of 1961, from Washington Consolidated High School.

Frankie Lee confessed Christ at an early age, and she joined the Little Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, and she served in many capacities and was a faithful servant until her health began to fail.

On September 19, 1970, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the Late Robert Lee Fields. To this union 2 children were born. A daughter, Vicky Denise Fields, proceeded them in death, and a son, Samuel Eric Gilbert.

Frankie Lee Gilbert Fields attended Albany Technical College and became a Master Cosmetologist in 1972. In 1975, she opened Frankie’s Beauty Salon, in Sylvester, Ga. Alvin Ray Hill, and Keisha McGill worked alongside Mrs. Frankie for years. She was the first African American Beauty Salon to open in Sylvester, Ga. She retired in 2008. She was also a Girls Scout Troup Leader (Troup 313 and Troup 413) in Sylvester, Ga.

She leaves to cherish many loving memories to her son Samuel Eric Gilbert (Deborah) Albany, Ga, a daughter, Sequetta Grier,Phoenix City, Alabama, a god-daughter, Patrice Clay, Sylvester, Ga,  and a god-son, Chris Sanders, Macon, Ga. Grandchildren, Staci Thomas, Aulexis Burks, Asiana Grier, AJacia Grier, Zion and Zy’Mir Grier. Her loving sisters, Fannie Gilbert, and Ethel Corker, Cairo, Ga. The Class of 1961, of Washington Consolidated School, and The Women of Distinction Social Club, Sylvester, Ga, an aunt, Mary Jones, Cairo, Ga, nieces, nephews, 2 great-great nieces, and 2 great- great nephews, cousins, and friends. Simon Gilbert, Dorsey Gilbert, and Josiefene Gilbert Thompson, all proceeded her in death.
