Geneva Ratcliff

Geneva C Ratcliff was born on June 13th, 1939, in Calvary, Ga., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Turner Carlow. She was the youngest of seven siblings, 5 of which preceded her in death, the late Lewis Carlow, Turner Carlow, Jessie Carlow, Horace Carlow, & Pearl Butler, and her two siblings she leaves to mourn, Mattie B Daniels and Emmaline Gurley. 

Geneva attended Grady county public schools, where she obtained her high school diploma. Geneva then Married the late James Ratcliff, whereby she relocated from Calvary, Ga. to Cairo, Ga. She birthed her two children, Georgia Ann Ratcliff (who preceded her in death) and Jason Ratcliff. 

Geneva was employed at ITT for over a decade and later retired. 

Geneva was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, sister, dear friend to many, and a faithful usher and servant of the Lord at St. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. 

Our dear mother sadly passed away on November 20th, 2022, at the blessed age of 83. She was kind-hearted, always had open arms, she would go out of her way for others. Geneva enjoyed her gospel music playing in the kitchen as she prepared her meals. She loved to sit out back and care for her yard. Even though Geneva faced many mountains, she always knew whom her help came from. In the words of sister Geneva, “ That’s My God.” Sickness didn’t defeat her; she defeated sickness. She’s now at her rightful place, at the feet of Jesus, with her daughter Georgia Ann Ratcliff and great-grandson Ja’shun Brandon Jones. 

She leaves to cherish her memories, son: Jason Ratcliff of Cairo Ga. grandkids: Genital Thrower Ezewike of Atlanta Ga, Stephanie Thrower of Atlanta Ga, Desmond Banton II of Cairo Ga, Rhea Ratcliff of Valdosta Ga and Adriana Johnson of Waycross, Ga. Great grandkids: Javon George II, Javion George, Ja’niyah George, Micaiah Banton, Ahriah Johnson, Calvin Johnson Jr., Averie Johnson. Best Friend: Teresa Jones; special family friends: Joyce Ann Holt and Wallace (Boochie) Griffin.
