Mr. Johnson was born on February 16, 1937 in Thomasville to George and Rosa Womack Johnson. He was a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Bainbridge and a graduate of Washington High School, Cairo. Mr. Johnson wed Ms. Drucella Emanuel and their union continued until the time of his passing. He was a lifelong resident of Thomasville and he departed this life on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. Survivors to cherish his memory include his daughters Barbara Ray (Melvin) of Tallahassee, FL, Theresa Johnson (Dennis) of Jesup, Leather Lincoln (Will) of Tallahassee, FL and Reather Scott of Jacksonville, FL; sons Mark Williams of New York, NY, George Cooper (Angela) of South Carolina, Freddie Johnson and Bobby Anderson of Cairo; brothers Andrew Womack (Gloria) and Clifford Johnson (Carmen) of Bronx, NY and Allen Bryant (Margaret) of Cairo; sisters Helen McCord (Franklin) of Cleveland, OH, Allie Bentley of Cairo and Joan V. Smith of Thomasville; aunts Jeanette Johson of Cairo, Emory Johnson Mockabee of Boston, MA, Mildren Johnson of Detroit, MI and Frances Johnson of Atlanta; special grandson Rodriquez Jackson of Jacksonville, FL; 34 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 15 step-children, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Homegoing Celebration The Homegoing Celebration of George Alfred Johnson, Jr. of Cairo will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Cairo. Interment will follow in Cairo City Cemetery.
