Jonas was a pal who held a friendly greeting of the day ready for meeting me anytime I made it to Cairo. Jonas and I have been friends for 30 years. One story I tell about Jonas fairly frequently is sort of a brag about Jonas. Rusty Connell and I visited the course and got rained out, probably 25 years ago, and when we asked for a rain check Jonas told us he didn't issue them, he kept up with them in a book there at the shop. In the early days we didn't play Cairo very often but when we did come back, years later, Jonas was there and we asked, did he still have our rain checks. In moments Jonas turned to the page where he had recorded our names years earlier. Jonas was an instant pal. I've held him that way every since and would tell all that might not know, that not a more honorable man have I met than Jonas Manning. I know there are others too, that would join me in this, if you know folks that are using the kerosene heaters, help them get them our of their house. Had we known Jonas was using one, many of us would have come to his side to create a safer source. In Jonas' memory help your loved ones get these heaters out of their houses. Rest in Peace Jonas, you are missed !!!
