Services for Joisiefene Gilbert Thompson of Cairo will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Bethlehem A.M.E. Church in Cairo. Rev. Chekibe C. Hollman, Rev. Chevetta McClendon and Rev. Roy J. Brown will be officiating services with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo. Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Stewards of Little Bethel A.M.E. Church, Washington Consolidate High School Class of 1968 and the Dorothy Edwards Chapter #36 Order of the Eastern Star. Ms. Thompson was born on April 16, 1950 in Cuthbert, GA to Simon and Gladys Hart Gilbert. She was a member of Little Bethel A.M.E. Church and the Dorothy Edwards Chapter #36 Order of the Eastern Star. Ms. Thompson attended Washington Consolidate High School in Cairo and the Walton Division of Thomas Technical Institute in Thomasville. She was a lifetime resident of of Cairo and she departed this life on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. Survivors to cherish her memory include her sons Rodriguez Thornton (Marier), Lannis Thornton, Jr. (Angela) and Courtney Thornton all of Cairo; sisters Frankie Fields of Albany, Fannie Gilbert and Frankie Fields both of Cairo; brother Dorsey Gilbert of Cairo; grandchildren Bryce Thornton, Jasmine Thornton, Sedarion Thornton, Tamadrick Jones, Christopher Thornton, Aamiya Thornton and Ineshia Addison all of Cairo; caregivers Mary Ann Gilbert and Melissa Calloway both of Cairo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.
