Services for Katie M. Shaw of Reno were be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Mt. Ararat Primitive Baptist Church in Attapulgus. Interment were follow at Crestview Cemetery in Cairo with Ozell Swain, Tommy Swain, Leroy Herring, Lorenzo Jackson, James McBride, Theodore Swain. Honorary pallbearers were Rickey Clark, Jim Baker, Sr., Joe Gibbs, Stacey Corker, Tony Herring and Norman Higdon. Mrs. Shaw was born on April 10, 1922 in Donalsonville to the late George and Viola Jones Upson. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Primitive Baptist Church in Attapulgus and attended the Mt. Moriah School in Attapulgus. Mrs. Shaw was a lifetime resident of Reno and worked during her life as a housewife. She was married to Mr. Charlie Shaw and this union would last until the time of his passing. Mrs. Shaw departed this life on Friday, August 10, 2012 after a brief illness at her home. Survivors to cherish her memory include her sons John L. (Minnie) Jones of Cairo; Shedrick Swain and Ozell (Lucy) Swain both of McCrayville; Tommy Swain (Rose) of Colquitt; daughters Doris Harrison of Reno; Totsie Edmond (James) of Attapulgus; Artice C. Mack and Ida Bush both of McCrayville; Shirley Wright of St. Petersburg, FL; Sandra Swain of Newark, N. J.; adopted son Harry Chaney of Thomasville; goddaughter Patricia Herring of Attapulgus; specia friend Sharon Hall of Miami, FL; like a daughter Lula Bell Johnson of Cairo; caregiver Mary Alice Williams of Beachton; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and faithful church members.
