Lillian Powell Obituary

A songwriter once declared, May the Works I've Done, Speak for Me!"

It is with most sincere sympathy that we formally announce the passing of, Sister Lillian Thomas Powell, who transitioned from this life on Friday, November 19, 2021.

A Time to Be Born:
On Sunday, September 8, 1929, the late Henry and Ella Mae Simpson Thomas welcomed Lillian to the world and to their lives.
Lillian was the seventh child of Henry and Ella Mae.

A Time to Build:
She was educated in the public school system of Grady County. She began her work life at Roddenberry Pickle Plant in 1948.

A Time to Unite:
In the year of our Lord and Savior, 1949, on Easter Sunday afternoon, April 17th , Lillian entered into holy matrimony with Alton Powell. To this union a daughter, Eleanor Dolores Powell
was born. They were married for 67 years. She returned to work at Roddenberry’s in 1965, retiring in 1980. Not quite ready for retirement she began working in the Cafeteria at Eastside
Elementary School, retiring from the Washington Middle School Cafeteria in 1985.

A Time to Love:
Lillian gave much love and affection to her family and those who knew her. In 1947 she was baptized and joined Beulah Baptist Church, under the pastoral of Rev. Grady Pinkney. She was a
member of the Senior and Gospel Choirs. She truly loved the Lord for all His faithfulness and blessings given to her. She did her daily devotion faithfully until her health declined.

A Time to Die:
On Friday, November 19, 2021, Lillian slipped into eternal rest at Lexington Community Hospice House.

A Time to Mourn:
Loving and precious memories of Lillian will linger forever in the hearts of her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor P. and Benny F. Clark of West Columbia, SC, and “Ganny Baby,” her
precious grandson, Alton Powell Clark of Greenville, SC. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Nell Gilbert of Riverdale, GA.
