The arms of our Lord now surround this loving Borden Family as they say a loving farewell to their beloved:  Mrs. Lilly Mae Borden

It is with a heavy and loving heart that the staff and management of Cloud Funeral Home announce the transition of:  

Mrs. Borden transitioned from this life on Saturday, November 27,2021.

Lilly Mae Borden (99) was born May 18, 1922 in Calvary, Georgia to Lawson and Mable Johnson.  She confessed Christ at an early age. She held various jobs in the community from cooking and caring for many families to working in packing houses in Havana and Quincy, Florida. For many years, she served faithfully as a Mother at St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church in Reno, Georgia. She was a prayer warrior and often talked about the power of prayer.  Lilly departed this life November 27, 2021 at Grady General Hospital in Cairo, Georgia.

She was a ray of sunshine and always greeted people with a smile that could captivate your heart. She was kind and always demonstrated compassion for people. As a homemaker, she loved caring for her family and cooking delicious meals and excellent cakes. She was a talented crafter and was well known in the area and the surrounding states for beautiful pine straw basket creations. She enjoyed selling baskets in various craft shows in Georgia, Florida and Alabama.  Many of her baskets have been featured in Art museums around the country.  

She loved flowers and spent many hours working in her yard with plants, collecting pine straw for the baskets, and gardening.  She definitely had a green thumb.  She enjoyed rearranging her flower beds and collecting and growing various kinds of flowers especially roses. 

She was married to Josephus Borden Sr. for 43 years with whom she remained married until his death in 1988. To this union, seven beautiful children were born.  She was preceded in death by her late husband, Josephus Borden Sr. and one child George Borden two brothers Earl Knight, and Robert Knight.

She leaves to cherish her memory and legacy six children:  Earlene Borden, Paltry (L.J.) Gibbs, Josephus (Patricia) Borden, Jr., of Cairo, Georgia, Catherine Robinson of Tampa, Florida, Bobbie Jackson of Brownstown Township, Michigan, Bettie (Charles) Stafford of Cairo, Georgia.  One sister Cora (Jerry) Coleman, brothers Robert Johnson of Detroit Michigan, and Lawson Johnson, of California.

Twelve grandchildren: Harriet Gibbs of Pineville, NC, Sharon Gibbs of Mascotte, FL, Ryan Robinson of Tampa, Florida, Tangela Mash of Chicago, IL, Danyale Borden of Cairo, GA, Kenyatta Jackson, Samantha Jackson, Felicia Jackson, Samuel Jackson Jr., Earl Jackson of Brownstown Township, Michigan, Lionel (Shayla) Jackson of Killeen, Texas, Naomi Robinson of Alexandria, VA.  Great grandchildren: Jasmine Bell, Joshua Jackson, Piper Jackson, Lashay Jackson, Leiyah Jackson, Landen Jackson, Loghan Jackson, Caden Robinson, Lamar Mash, Leya Mash. Great-great grandchildren: Zariyah Mash, Zamaree Mash, D’eirre Perry. One God daughter Tommie Copeland.  A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
