Mildred Williams Obituary

It is with most sincere sympathy that we formally announce the passing of, Mrs. Mildred S. Williams.  Mrs. Williams passed on Thursday, August 22, 2019.

For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down-when we die and leave these bodies-we will have a home in heaven, and eternal body made for us by God Himself and not by human hands.          ~ 2 Corinthians 5:1

Mother Mildred S. Williams was born September 24, 1942 in Tallahassee, FL to the late Ulysses and Cora Smith.  At an early age she confessed to accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior. Mother Mildred was a member of her family church New St. Mary M.B. Church in Havana, FL; and she had a strong unshakeable faith in the Lord. During her Christian walk she served as Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and the Women’s Missionary auxiliary. She loved serving in this capacity to her community. She was affectionately known as the community Mom to many; through her giving, motherly advice, and her open door. If she had it and you needed it, it was yours to have; but not without a speech first. She was known to speak her mind and unapologetically meant every word…You can call it a “Youmas thing”!   Her giving was filled with agape LOVE!

Mildred attended and graduated from the public schools of Gadsden County. She also attended Lively Vocational School where she obtained a certificate in bookkeeping, Data Entry, and Administrative Skills.

Mother Mitt worked at Florida State University (FSU) Bookstore as a store manager for more than 27 years before retiring.

On Thursday evening August 22, 2019 God needed a beautiful rose in His presence and our dearly loved angel was peacefully called away quietly while sitting at home.  In His word, "to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" ~ II Corinthians 5:6-8

Her Legacy and Life will live on and for she is survived by her loving children Lorenzo Smith (Brenda), Cairo, GA; Gwen (Jeffrey) Terry, Pensacola, FL; Sheila (Jerry) Dickey, Havana, FL; Reginald (Gayla) Williams, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Charles Williams Jr., Mobile, AL; Elizabeth (Leondra) Jenkins, Havana, FL; Vivian Williams, Havana, FL; Christopher Williams (Toni), Havana, FL and Jaylond Deavens Havana, FL (Great Grandson) whom she raised till her sudden departure.

Her Siblings: Elizabeth Hatcher (Paul), Havana, FL; Suzie Bell Swain, Miami, FL; Patricia Smith, Cairo, GA; Albert Cauley (Nems), Columbus, GA; Calvin Lamoute (Linda), Cairo, GA and proceeded in death Paul Johnson.
