Minister Catherine George

March 18, 1934 ~ June 16, 2013 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Minister Catherine George was born on March 18, 1934 in Grady County, Georgia, and departed this life on June 16, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Willie Glenn and Hennie Bell Spivey Glenn. She attended the Grady County School System. She retired from the W.B. Roddenberry Company. She accepted Christ at an early age, and became a member of White Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She later became a member of Bible Way Church of God in Christ in Vada, Georgia, under the leadership of Missionary Agnes Parris , where she was a minister of the gospel for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memories eight sons: Cleveland Glenn (Ann) of Bunnlevel, N.C.; John Holt (Joyce) of Cairo, Ga; John George V (Venus) of Gainesville, Fl ; Willie George of Cairo, Ga; Walter George (Chandra) of Louisville, KY; Karon George (Teresa) of Lawton, OK; Duane George and Ernest Terrell George of Cairo, Ga. Six daughters: Kate Lewis (George) of Tallahasse, Fl; Lucille Shillingford (Skelford) of Tampa, Fl; Gloria Simon (Thurston), Karla George, Teresa Fortner (Jimmy), Bridgette Jenkins, of Cairo, Ga. Two brothers: Willie Glenn of Orlando, Fl and Ira Glenn (Lena) of Louisville, KY. Thirty-three grand children, thirty-two great grand children and two great, great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Mahalia Glenn and Frances Glenn Smith.

SERVICE SCHEDULE: The Celebration of Life Service for Minister Catherine George will be conducted Saturday, June 22,2013, at 2:00 p.m. at New Grady M.B. Association Building 204 Church Street, Cairo. Pastor Randall L. Hines presiding. Superintendent Paul Hayes II Officiate. Interment will follow in Crestview Cemetery.
