Myrtice Lee Williams aka "Granny", 102, passed away on the 14th, of April 2015 at home among her family and friends in Cairo, Georgia. She was born on January 18, 1913 in Leon County, FL to the Late Dan Swain and Caroline White.
Myrtice attended elementary school in Whigham, GA. She assisted her family by joining the workforce at an early age. A nurturing wife and mother, she involved herself in the up-building of her fellow brethren. She served faithfully within the Christian community wherever there was a need, treating all who knew her as her family. Myrtice enjoyed socializing, hours of fishing, gardening, fellowship among churches and traveling with friends and family.
Myrtice worked as a Housekeeper/Caregiver for many families throughout Grady County and a banker at Citizens Bank. She is long remembered for her special attention to the children she helped to rear and nurture. She believed that each child's life that she touched or "helped raised", then maternally became one of her own children. She is quoted to have officially retired in 2002, but often stated that she never really retired, working long until the age of 100 years old.
Myrtice Williams married to Will Fortner of Calvary, GA, then Primus Maston Williams on August 17, 1949. They were happily married for 10 years.
Myrtice at an early age confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior, becoming an active member of Mt. Ararat Primitive Baptist Church in 1935. Myrtice operated in many servanthood capacities throughout her life, namely the Kitchen committee, Choir, Treasury, and the Mothers board. She also served within the District supporting the Church School Convention, The Association, The State Convention, and the National Convention faithfully until her time of peaceful rest.
Myrtice was preceded in death by her late parents Dan Swain and Caroline White, Step-father, Charley Bryant, Husbands, Will Fortner, and Primus Maston Williams, Brothers Walter Hatcher and Columbus Bryant, and three children, Gracie Horton, Woodrow Wilkins, Geneva Glenn and late Granddaughter Lois Pound .
