Services for Nearee Harris Garland of Cairo were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Beautiful Lights Missionary Baptist Church in Cairo. Rev. Morris Evans, Pastor and officiated services with interment followed at Crestview Cemetery in Cairo. Pallbearers were Brandon Williams, Kevin Edwards, George Herring, Ronald Edwards, Lorenzo Draggs, Michael Jones and Frederick Edwards. Mrs. Garland was born on November 25, 1962 in Pelham to the late Charlie and Dora King Harris. She was a member of Beautiful Light Missionary Baptist Church and attended Cairo High School. Mrs. Garland created and shared a union with Mr. Richard Garland, Jr. that lasted until the time of her passing. She was a lifetime resident of Cairo departed this life after a brief illness at Grady General Hospital in Cairo on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Survivors to cherish her memory include her husband Richard Garland, Jr.; sons Demetris Harris (Kusandra) and Jerrod Harris both of Cairo; mother Dora King of Cairo; brothers Tommy King and Charles Harris both of Rochester, NY; sisters Pamela Harris, Theresa R. Harris and Telisa V. Harris all of Cairo; aunts Rosa Bozeman, Bertha King and Virginia King all of Rochester, NY; nephew Rashad Harris of Cairo; nieces Tasha Jones and Tasha Jones both of Cairo; granddaughters Takia Harris, Ty'esha Hudson and Ty'Kiria Hudson all of Cairo; and a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews and friends
