NeShan Katrece Burney was born in Thomasville, Georgia on June 4, 1978. She is the daughter of Freta LaRose Banks and James Banks. She graduated from Thomasville High School in 1998.

At an early age, she joined Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church. She later joined Crossroads Christian Center. She attended until her health started failing.

NeShan leaves to cherish her memories four children: Eric Marquez Burney of Jacksonville, FL., Amaya Vontrice Burney, Destiny Nichealle Richardson and Joshua Jeremias Burney all of Cairo, GA.; Parents, Freta LaRose Banks of Cairo, GA., and Reverend James Banks of Thomasville, GA.; Sister, Bridgette Banks of Cairo, GA.; Aunts, Jacqueline (Reverend Bobby) Powell of Cairo, GA., Patricia Banks of Thomasville, and Martha (Ernest) Williams of Cairo, GA.; Uncle, Wilbert Burney of San Antonio, Texas; Grandmothers, Mary Burney and Lillie Banks both of Thomasville, GA.; Great Aunt, Clarice Hobbs of Thomasville, GA.; special friends, Lorraine Hardy and Yvonne Bailey of Thomasville, GA.; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. 

She is preceded in death by a brother, Eric Terrell Banks; grandmother, Susie Henderson and grandfathers, Wilbert Burney and James H. Banks, Sr.
