Deacon Norman Higdon, Jr. was born to the late Norman & Rosa Higdon Sr. in Whigham, Ga. on April 3, 1935.
He attended Grady County Public Schools.
He was married to Mandy Jackson for 62 wonderful years. To this union, seven children were born.
He retired from W.B. Roddenberry Company and Colonial Warehouse. Deacon Higdon confessed Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful member of St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church for many years serving as a Deacon, Chairman of the Deacon board, past president of the choir, and Sunday School Superintendent. He moved his membership to St. Clair Primitive Baptist Church and held the same positions faithfully until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and faithful wife Mandy Jackson Higdon of 62 years, children, Virgina (Mathis) Williams, of Tampa, Fla. Wesley (Annette) Higdon, of Cairo, Ga. Diane (Larry) Wade, of Whigham, Ga. Beverly (Vickey) Flowers, of Climax, Ga. Lisa (Jerome) Wade of Climax, Ga. One son-in-law Charles Wade of Climax, Ga. One Sister Regina Anders of West Palm Beach, Fl. One sister-in-law Althea Higdon of Queens, New York, 15 grand children, 25 great-grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren. Two God-daughters Doris "Dot" Corker and Sandra Addison. Deacon Norman Higdon Jr. will be deeply missed by those that loved him. Two children preceded him in death Reanea Wade & Tyrone Higdon.
CELEBRATION SERVICE
The funeral service for Deacon Norman Higdon Jr. will be conducted Saturday January 4, 2014, at 1:00 pm, at St. Clair Primitive Baptist Church 1190 Calvary Road Cairo.
