A page turned, a chapter completed, a life well lived, and a rest well earned. Mother Ora Baker departed this life on Saturday, April 18, 2020.
Mother Baker was born on September 15, 1929, in Cairo, Georgia, to the late Endie Wright and Willie Williams. On August 3, 1951 she was united in marriage to the late Lonzie Lee Baker. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh #1 Missionary Baptist Church, and later joined Wilson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithful on the Mother’s Board and many other auxiliaries within the church until she became ill. She received her education from the Grady County Public School System and was a devoted employee of the Joseph Campbell Soup Company for 38 years. Mother Baker was a member of the Dorothy Edwards Chapter OES #36, and the Household of Ruth #1105.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Ronnie Baker and wife Jennifer Baker, grandchildren; Ronnie (Cristal) Baker, Jr. of Thomasville and Raven Baker of Augusta; great grandchildren; VaShone Wilson, JhKari Baker, Jacquez Wilson, Ronnie Baker, III, Ny’Asia Baker and Alexandria Mack; step grandchildren; Arthur Donalson, Shekoiya Jackson and Shakura Harris. A sister, Mable Baisden of Tampa, Florida, sister in law; Bernice Wright, a loving and devoted friend, Ora Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A special thanks to the caretakers; Shekoiya Jackson, Michelle Ceasar, Tracey Bryant and the entire staff of Health One Private In-Home Care.
In addition to her parents and husband, her sisters, Channie Nellon and Essie Mae Jones and brothers, Willie B. Hadley, Charlie Wright and Roosevelt Wright preceded her in death.
