Mr. Paul Edward McReynolds was the last child born to the late Ollie and Pauline McReynolds on June 6, 1946 in Pine Apple (Wilcox County), Alabama. He departed this earthly life early Saturday morning, September 3, 2016.
He attended the local schools in Pine Apple, Alabama and graduated from W.J. Jones High School in May 1963.
He relocated to Bayonne, NJ and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1965-1969. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. The U.S. Postal Service was his next and final employer. He was employed there from 1969-2001, working as a letter carrier out of the main branch of the Bayonne, NJ Post Office. He retired June 2001. His combined federal service was thirty-six years. Paul moved to Cairo, GA in 2005 and lived briefly in Conyers, GA until illness caused him to relocate to Thomasville, GA with his sister until his passing.
Mr. McReynolds was baptized as a child in the Methodist faith at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Pine Apple, Alabama. He late became a member of Wallace Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in Bayonne, NJ.
He loved bowling and was a founding member of The Soul Bowlers of Jersey City, NJ in the early 1970’s. He also enjoyed fishing and playing the stock market. He was a Life Member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Mr. McReynolds leaves to cherish his memory: One son, Mr. Paul-Brian McReynolds of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Pearline M. Thompson of Cairo, GA; Rev. Juliaette M. Smith of Thomasville, GA; nephew, Robert (Jocelyn) Thompson of Thomasville; niece, Paul McReynolds of Cairo, GA; grand and great nephews, Brandon D. Thompson and Cameron J. Underwood; grand-nieces, Charmaine J. Walden, Sgt. Dominique C. McReynolds, and India M. Thompson, whom he lovingly called “My Girl”; special caregiver, Diane Jones-Sloan; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Pauline McReynolds and sister Ollie Mae Tate. Mr. McReynolds was divorced.
