Ruth Mae Neal-Wilkerson was born on June 22, 1933 in Decatur County, Georgia to Ed and Mary Jo Laster-Neal. Ruth was the youngest of 11 siblings. She joined Mt. Moriah #1 Missionary Baptist church at an early age and rejoined upon her return to South Georgia.

She attended Mr. Moriah School in Decatur County to which they had to walk about six miles, after graduating from high school she left South Georgia and moved to New Jersey where she lived with her older sister Corene Neal Russell.

Ruth later moved to the Washington D.C. area with her brother and obtains a job the Government Printing Office, where she worked until she retired.

Ruth had one son, Larry T. Neal prior to meeting James Wilkerson, whom she married in 1962 to which union they together had another son, Ernest Wilkerson.

She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Larry T. Neal and Ernest (Kim) Wilkerson, Granddaughter she raised as her own Monica Wilkerson-Lee and seven grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren ; one sister, Annie P. Neal-Gibson ; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth Mae Neal- Wilkerson will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Moriah #1, HWY 262, Climax, Ga. Douglas Barber, pastor officiating. Interment at Conyers Cemetery in Climax, Ga.
