Shirley Morgan Obituary

A songwriter once declared, May the Works I've Done, Speak for Me!"

It is with most sincere sympathy that we formally announce the passing of, Sister Shirley Morgan, who transitioned from this life on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Shirley Louise Morgan was born on February 18, 1944, in Cairo, Georgia, the only child born to the late Pauline Williams and Lucious Williams. She was married for 57 years to the late Bennie Lee Morgan.

At an early age, Shirley confessed her life to Christ and, up until her death, was a member of Wilson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a waitress for many years and her last employer was Piccadilly’s Restaurant until she took an early retirement and moved back to her roots in Cairo, Georgia in 2000.

She enjoyed crafting, shopping and was very well known for the many floral arrangements that she made for people throughout the community.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two daughters, Sandra Haliburton of Cairo, Georgia and Sarah Morgan Dixon of West Palm Beach, Florida; two stepsons, Floyd Wilson of Pensacola, Florida and James Haynes of Winter Haven, Florida; three children who preceded her in death, one daughter, Margaret D. Edmond, one son, Calvin Morgan, Sr., and one stepson, Willie Frank Haynes; she also leaves two sisters- in-law, Mattie Deyounks of Rivera Beach, Florida and Joeann VanBlunt of Tallahassee, Florida; one brother-in-law, Charles Morgan of Cairo, Georgia; son-in-law, Carl Edmond of Riviera Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Shavon, Charle, Domonique, Brandon, Mark, Darren, Darius, DaJuan, Deandre, Calvin,
Frankie, Mathius, Desja, Ashton, Lamario, Duan, Kevin, and David; two special friends, Ruby Bennett and Lucille Mathis; three caring nephews, Jeffery Morgan (Michelle), Othello Morgan (Nina), and Keith Morgan; caring nieces, Leola Morgan, Shannon “Kat” Adams and Diane Johnson; and a host of other
