Thornton (TJ) Anderson, Jr. Obituary

Thornton (TJ) Matthew Anderson, Jr was the second child born to Thornton Sr. and Earlene Anderson on September 12, 1983. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rev. R.C. and Azalee Anderson and Judge and Estella Cowart.

TJ confessed the love of Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethlehem AME Church of Cairo, Ga.

TJ matriculated through the Grady County School System and graduated from Cairo High School in 2003. During high school, TJ was a key player on both the football and baseball teams. He was a three year letterman on the CHS football team. During his Junior and Senior years, he was named to the All-Region team in 2002 and 2003 and was awarded the Cairo “Syrupmaker Pride” Captain Award in 2002.

Post graduation, TJ formed TMA Trucking to begin his career as a professional driver where he worked for several years. Desiring a career change, TJ entered law enforcement and served for 8 years on the force with the Cairo Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and Thomas County Sheriff Department. While in law enforcement, he earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. His final dream was to reapply his entrepreneurial skills and reorganize his transportation company as Anderson Diversified Enterprise to allow him to develop his business and pursue aviation as a commercial pilot. TJ would have completed his Bachelors Degree in Aviation Science and Management from Middle Georgia State University in 2019.

TJ was united in holy matrimony on September 24, 2016 to Dr. Mary Weaver.  To this union, Tyler Anderson was born.

TJ’s love for family is unparalleled. His love and desire to help people was truly evident in his daily walk of life. He was always a smiling face and strong shoulder to lean on to everyone. TJ left no dream unpursued and encouraged everyone around him to pursue their purpose through trusting in God. His life’s motto was Philippians 4:13 “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me”.

TJ leaves to mourn a loving and devoted wife, Mary, two sons, Matthew and Tyler, parents, Thornton Sr. and Earlene, brother, Michael (Cherelle), nephews (Zacharius and Elijah), nieces (Destiny, Kennedi and Mikael Michelle), Father and Mother-in-law, Dr. Abraham and Grace Weaver, all of Cairo, Ga, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends and family.
